Eutelsat has denied that it is considering the acquisition of its competitor SES, reports LaLibre.be. A SES spokesperson has also dismissed the story, which emerged on 18 November following comments made by Luxembourg economy minister Etienne Schneider during an interview with RTL Luxembourg.

Schneider said it was informed of the fact that Eutelsat was planning a merger with SES, expressing his opposition to a possible deal. The Luxembourg state owns a 16.67 percent stake in SES, holding a blocking minority based on 33.33 percent of voting rights.
