Express-AMU1 satellite launched

The Russian communications satellite Express-AMU1 was lifted by the Proton-M launch vehicle from Baikonur, Kazakhstan on 25 December. This was the eighth and final space launch this year using the heavy-lift Russian-made Proton.  The Express-AMU1 satellite was manufactured for Russian state-owned satellite operator RSCC. The contract to build the satellite was signed with EADS Astrium. The Proton rocket and the Breeze-M upper stage booster are produced by the Khrunichev Space Center.
