Facebook opens Internet.org app to more operators

To mark the one year anniversary of the introduction of its Internet.org app, Facebook has opened the portal to more operators, introducing a dedicated portal for those wishing to connect with Facebook and offer the service. The site also lays out the business case behind Internet.org, TechCrunch reported, citing a company blog. Internet.org began with initial launches in Africa, but has since expanded to cover 17 countries across three continents. Facebook said that more than half of the nine million users that have used the service signed up for a paid-for data package of some kind within
