Farooqui asks Maharashtra to ditch extra radiation rules

India's Telecom Secretary M. F. Farooqui has asked Maharashtra to bring its draft mobile tower radiation rules in line with the guidelines as issued by the Department of Telecom (DoT). The Department last year asked all states in India not to put any further restrictions on tower installations in residential areas, educational institutions, or hospitals over radiation concerns as the DoT had already lowered the allowed radiation levels. However, the Maharashtra state government is against the installation of mobile base stations near schools and hospitals and asked operators also to ensure
