Fastweb, Huawei extend partnership to convergent services

Italian operator Fastweb and Huawei have signed an agreement to extend their existing partnership from fixed broadband technologies to fixed-mobile convergent services and 5G. The companies have been collaborating in the research and development of advanced technologies for fixed and above all fibre-optic networks since 2012 and, as a full MVNO, Fastweb is also looking to deliver services using 5G technology. The partners revealed that the first project will cover the area of small cells technologies using Fastweb assets as well as licensed and unlicensed spectrum frequencies.
