FCC grants 60-day spectrum access to mobile internet firms serving rural communities

The Federal Communications Commission has granted temporary spectrum access to 33 mobile internet service providers, to help them ensure connectivity in rural communities during the covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The firms serve 330 counties in 29 states. The Special Temporary Authority (STA) granted will allow the companies to use the lower 45 MHz of spectrum in the 5.9 GHz band for 60 days.
