FCC proposes increase in minimum rural broadband speed to 25 Mbps

Wednesday 21 November 2018 | 09:10 CET | News
The FCC has proposed raising the minimum broadband speed in rural areas to 25 Mbps from the current 10 Mbps, bringing it in line with urban areas. The speed was last increased in 2014. The higher speed is part a wider reform of universal service subsidies for broadband to be proposed by the FCC chairman at the commission's next meeting in December.
