Fibre broadband connections overtake copper in New Zealand

Fibre has overtaken copper as the main way the New Zealand households access the internet, according to a report from New Zealand's Commerce Commission. The report also shows that at 30 September 2019, New Zealand had 880,000 homes and businesses connected to the fibre broadband network, which represents an increase of 31 percent from 2018. The number of copper connections decreased by 23 percent to 581,000 over the same period.
