Fibre network regulation is a 'gift' for Telekom - Kurth

German telecommunications regulator BNA president Matthias Kurth has described current regulation of fibre-optic networks in Germany as 'a gift' for Telekom Deutschland, onlinekosten.de reports. Speaking at a fibre-optic network conference organised by German alternative network operators association VATM, Kurth said that the BnA's decision to allow Telekom to set its own pricing for access to its fibre network as a 'gift', with the regulator banking on competition to balance the market. Kurth said that if Telekom's prices a product too high, then no one would order it.
