Fifth of Germans use smartphones to surf the internet

Germans are increasingly using their smartphones to surf the internet at home, according to a recent Bitkom survey. At 20 percent, the smartphone is ahead of the tablet (18%) and the desktop PC (16%), although the laptop at 43 percent is still in the lead. The popularity of smartphones is similar across all age groups until 64. Just under half (46%) of those aged 65 or older mainly use the desktop PC; only 5 percent surf mainly on their smartphones.
