Fifth of US holiday shopping done online - study

More than a fifth (20.2 percent) of all holiday shopping in the US occurred online, a segment that has seen steady growth in recent years, according to a research by First Data. Using insights gleaned from transaction data from 1.3 million U.S. merchant locations, researchers also found that retail sales are up 3.3 percent for the full holiday season.
