Fines for Peruvian operators total PEN 72 mln since 2014

Friday 15 September 2017 | 10:18 CET | News
Peru's Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) revealed that it issued fines totalling PEN 72.5 million (around USD 22 million) over the four years from June 2013 to June 2017. Around half that amount (PEN 33.6 million) has been paid, with the remaining fines still subject to pending processes, said the watchdog, adding that the proceeds were allocated to the Telecommunications Investment Fund (Fitel) to fund projects in Peru's digital divide areas.
