Finnish detached homes often lack fibre broadband access

Secure fixed broadband connections must be available everywhere in Finland to prevent it falling into a "mobile pit", said Minister of Education and Communications Krista Kiuru while visiting a fibre optic project by a local cooperative in the Pitajanmaki district of Helsinki on 05 March. The problem affects sparsely populated areas and many one-family house areas in large towns, too. These often old residential areas house about 60-65 percent of Finns, said Kiuru.
