Five firms interested in acquiring capacity in TKSAT-1

Tuesday 7 October 2014 | 13:58 CET | News
Five companies are interested in acquiring satellite capacity in Bolivia's TKSAT-1 (Tupac Katari) satellite, Eju.Tv reports, citing Bolivia's Space Agency (ABE) director Ivan Zambrana. According to the report, Bolivian mobile operator Tigo is among the interested firms. Tigo is fully controlled by Millicom. The Tupac Katari satellite was launched into space in December 2013 and on 1 April began commercial operations. Zambrana had previously said that the agency expects to obtain USD 8 million during 2014. The satellite currently has eight customers, according to previous reports.
