Fixed broadband subs in non-EU, C. Asia pass 53 mln

The total number of connections to fixed broadband technologies in non-EU Europe and Central Asia countries passed 53 million by the end of Q2, an increase of 1 percent on Q1 and 7 percent on the same quarter in 2014, according to a study by Quantum Web. In Q2, the number of xDSL connections stood at 25.8 million lines, representing 49 percent of the fixed broadband market, a decline of 200,000 lines compared to the same quarter in 2014. FTTx connections, the second most common type of broadband technology (with 33 percent market share), rose to 17 million at the end of Q2. Cable modem
