Fnac wins competition approval for Darty takeover

Tuesday 19 July 2016 | 09:31 CET | News
The French competition authority has approved retailer Fnac's takeover of rival Darty, saying the combined group will face enough pressure from internet sellers to mitigate the impact of the merger. The regulator did impose the condition of selling six Darty stores in the Paris region for the takeover to go ahead. The shops may not be closed, and the buyer is expected to be a substantial competitor to the new group.
