Fortumo expands m-payments service to Nigeria

Friday 20 September 2013 | 10:17 CET | News
Fortumo launched its mobile payment service in Nigeria. With Nigeria connected, mobile payments became available to an additional 114 million mobile phone users. Due to a large portion of the population still using feature phones, not just in Nigeria but elsewhere in Africa, the company created a special flow of its cross-platform mobile payments for feature phones. Mobile internet dominates in Nigeria as 75 percent of all internet subscriptions in the country are mobile, totalling at 35 million users. At present, only 25 percent of phones in the country are smartphones.
