France awards grants to 14 e-health R&D projects

The French government has selected 14 R&D projects out of 45 candidates in the first round of its e-health call for projects. The winners will receive a total of EUR 9 million of state funding, with individual projects receiving between EUR 170,000 and EUR 1.7 million. Three-quarters of the support will go to SMEs. The programme is part of the innovative services, uses and content of the digital society fund of future investments, launched in January 2011. The winning projects cover a large range of applications (communicating medical sensors, service platforms, software...) and medical areas
