France has 24,600 LTE cell sites in operation

French spectrum agency ANFR reports that 28,833 cell sites were authorised for LTE as of 01 October, of which 24,614 were in service. The number of active sites rose by 3 percent month-on-month for all bands combined, with 20,347 sites operating in the 800 MHz band (+4 percent in a month), 14,894 in the 1,800 MHz band (+6 percent) and 19,237 in the 2.6 GHz band (+2 percent). The number of sites in the 700 MHz band (available since April in selected areas) has risen to 332, representing a 51 percent increase month-on-month.
