France officially objects to Google's EU tax affairs

According to a 10-Q filing from Google, the French authorities are objecting to Google's tax structure in Europe, through which it recognises revenue via an Irish subsidiary,, the Financial Times reports. Le Point reported in February that Google could be required to pay back EUR 500 million to EUR 1 billion of taxes at the conclusion of an investigation opened in 2011. Google had no comment for the Financial Times. Similar demands have been made to Amazon, Microsoft and other technology companies.
