France seeks EUR 52.5 mln in back taxes from Microsoft

The French tax office has requested that Microsoft France pay EUR 52.5 million in back taxes for the period 2007-2009, BFM Business reports. The revenue service faults the way the software giant calculated the price of commission transfers between the French subsidiary and its European parent company in Ireland. Microsoft, which said the tax office has "proposed a rectification", has appealed the decision to the National Tax Commission. This body ruled in the company's favour during an earlier tax adjustment.
