France Telecom starts using Orange brand in DRC

France Telecom-Orange has started using the Orange brand in the Democratic Republic of Congo for its subsidiary CCT subsidiary, acquired from ZTE and the DRC government in October 2011. Since the acquisition, Orange has invested USD 95 million in the network's upgrade and expansion. The operator has deployed the first 3G+ network the country's main cities. The network is already live in Kinshasa, will be switched on in Lubumbashi and Matadi in the coming days, followed by Goma, Bukavu and Mbuji-Mayi in early 2013.
