France to fund network capacity boost for overseas markets

The French government has announced a new initiative for the overseas territories, which makes available state funding to broadband operators in St. Pierre and Miquelon, St. Martin, St. Barthelemy, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Reunion, Mayotte and French Guiana. The initiative aims to ensure digital territorial continuity (Continuite territoriale numerique or CTN) by easing the bottlenecks in the flow of traffic to and from these overseas markets. To this end, the government will support the acquisition of additional capacity on submarine cables by giving eligible operators a subsidy of up to 50
