Frankfurt underground stations to be equipped with LTE

Telefonica, Vodafone and Deutsche Telekom are to launch a joint project for LTE mobile internet on the underground network in Frankfurt, inside-it.de reports. Within nine month, the entire underground network is due to be upgraded to the new standard. The project involves investment sums of EUR 3.5 million. Each provider will set up a mobile station with its own receiver technology at each underground station; the data will be transmitted as an optical signal via a fibre network.
