Free, NSN start working on all-IP I-HSPA network

Nokia Siemens Networks, selected in February to supply the lion's share of the network of France's next 3G mobile operator, Free Mobile, has begun working with its client on the network. The head of NSN's network division, Marc Rouanne, told La Tribune that "it will be a beautiful, very mobile internet oriented network". Its architecture will optimise data traffic at a lower cost, but it has never been tried before and some older handsets are not completely compatible with all-IP technology. Free Mobile has chosen I-HSPA, a variant of the HSPA+ standard with theoretical top speeds of 42
