UK free-to-air TV company Freesat has partnered with Irish broadcaster RTE to develop a new product for Irish digital TV platform Saorview. This new Saorview Connect product will allow viewers to access a range of on demand content as well as the Saorview TV channels, all integrated in a new set-top box with a range of additional features. By connecting a Saorview Connect box to both broadband and a TV aerial, users will be able to watch on demand and catch-up content alongside the Irish TV channels. Saorview Connect will be based on Freesat's Metaphor cloud-based connected TV guide platform.
