Arqiva announced an eight-year extension of its contract to deliver fibre data collection and uplink services for UK digital satellite TV service Freesat. Arqiva’s services facilitate the transmission of the Freesat Home Transponder, a data service available on a satellite at 28 degrees east, which enables Freesat’s Electronic Programme Guide to function.

The deal extends a 10-year partnership between the two companies, which dates back to the launch of the free-to-air TV service as a joint venture between the BBC and ITV in 2007.
