Freifunk initiative provides refugee centres with WLAN

Grassroots initiative Freifunk, which supports free radio networks, provide refugees with WLAN in several cities in Germany, heise.de reports. In Hamburg, Hanover or Dortmund, refugees at reception centres can connect to the internet via PC or smartphone. The centres are often not equipped with internet connections. Some have DSL; in these cases, the Freifunk organisation installs the WLAN infrastructure, and supply the whole centre with internet. The fees are paid often with donations. In Stuttgart, the Freifunker have already supplied several refugee centres. The initiative hopes to get
