French amendment sets competition rules on Google

Two French members of parliament have tabled an amendment to the Macron economic reform bill that would introduce measures limiting Google's threat to competition, Les Echos reports. Google, which accounts for 90 percent of web searches in Europe, would be obliged to include links to three competing search engines in its results. "This measure will be rather well received by Google, which itself proposed this to the European Commission during their negotiations in Brussels," a person on the senators' staff told the newspaper. Google would also have to inform users about the main principles
