French consumers buy 232,000 tablets in Jan-Feb - study

French consumers bought 232,000 tablet computers in January-February and another 3 million units are expected to be sold by the end of the year, according to the REC+ study GfK exclusively distributes through AFP. The market researcher estimated that 1.5 million tablets were sold in France in 2011 and 440,000 a year earlier. Tablets are now seen as a replacement product for netbooks in the home, with 81 percent of usage time spent in the home.
