French court convicts group behind illegal sports streaming websites

Thursday 9 July 2020 | 18:23 CET | News
The criminal court of Rennes has sentenced a group accused of running around twenty illegal sports streaming websites, linked to a platform called beinsport-streaming.com. News of the trial emerged in mid-2019, following a successful operation a year earlier by the cyber-crime unit of the local police force. The investigation was prompted by a joint complaint by beIN Sports, Canal Plus and Altice France's RMC Sport division, in collaboration with anti-piracy association ALPA.
