French Covid-19 lockdown delays fibre roll-out for 1.5 mln premises – study

Friday 26 June 2020 | 10:28 CET | News
France's fibre roll-out roadmap has been severely impacted by the Covid-19 lockdown, delaying deployment for an estimated 1.5 million premises across the 2020-2021 period. The assessment is part of the annual report of InfraNum, which represents the interests of over 200 companies working to expand digital infrastructure in rural France. The association said that its latest analysis is further proof that the government needs to step up financial support for public initiative networks, arguing that EUR 680 million worth of state funds are still required to achieve full fibre coverage by 2025.
