French digital music market shrinks 5.2% in Q1

France's digital music market contracted by 5.2 percent to EUR 30.95 million in the first quarter, compared to EUR 32.64 million in the first quarter of 2012, according to recording industry association Snep. Some EUR 1.6 million of the EUR 1.7 million decrease was attributed to a special operation in 2012 by one of the music majors that was not renewed in 2013, and the suspension of payments from YouTube, which started up again in the second quarter of 2013 after an agreement was signed.
