French government, operators agree on social mobile tariff

Tuesday 8 March 2011 | 09:04 CET | News
A new EUR 10 a month mobile social tariff targeting France's 1.2 million homes on basic state benefits has been announced by Eric Besson and Frederic Lefebvre, respectively the country's ministers of the digital economy and consumer affairs. A convention was signed by the government, Orange France, SFR, Bouygues Teledcom and MVNOs Virgin Mobile France (Omea), NRJ Mobile, Auchan, Zero Forfait (Call in Europe), Coriolis and Transatel. Qualifying subscribers will pay EUR 10 for 40 minutes of calls and 40 SMS, and as a social offer come with no tie-in period, connection or cancellation charges.
