French government opposed to merging regulators

France's minister of culture, Frederic Mitterand, has affirmed in a letter to UMP legislator Christian Vanette, that the government was not in favour of any future merging of telecom regulator Arcep, audiovisual authority CSA and anti-piracy body Hadopi, reports Le Monde. A rapprochement between the three regulators was intitially tabled by Vanneste and another deputy, Rene Dosiere. Last January, industry minister Eric Besson backed the initiative, saying that "the generalisation of fixed and mobile broadband internet was making the frontier between audiovisual and telecommunications more
