French interest group InfraNum calls for extension to Arcep's fixed LTE initiative in under-served areas

InfraNum, which represents the interests of over 200 companies working to expand digital infrastructure in rural France, has asked telecom regulator Arcep to extend the fixed wireless initiative enabling the use of the 3.5 GHz band under regional LTE licences. Unveiled at end of 2017, the release of 3.5 GHz spectrum for fixed LTE services is part of the government's efforts to improve the availability of faster internet access in under-served areas by 2020. Under current plans, the allocation process is scheduled to close at the end of 2019. InfraNum is calling for an extension to end-2020,
