French prime minister announces broadband plans

French prime minister Francois Fillon has announced that the country would invest EUR 4.5 billion in the digital economy. Of the total, EUR 2 billion will go towards deploying very high-speed networks and EUR 2.5 billion to support innovative uses, services and content. The budget will be administered by a new fund for the digital economy, headed by Rene Ricol working in partnership with digital economy minister Nathalie Koscuisko-Morizet.
