French tax on mobile masts could be capped at 2016 level

An amendment to the French draft budget bill aims to cap the revenue from the tax on mobile masts starting from 2018, reports Les Echos. Known as IFER (imposition forfaitaire pour les entreprises de reseau), the tax is expected to become increasingly onerous for mobile network operators, under the current rules. According to information obtained by Les Echos, revenue from the tax could increase at an annual rate of 10 percent in the next four years, due the planned increase in the number of masts.
