French telecom federation hails progress in LTE cell sites activations

Tuesday 18 June 2019 | 13:35 CET | News
French telecom federation FFTelecoms (Federation Francaise des Telecoms) said that the country's mobile network operators were demonstrating their commitment to a faster LTE deployment in under-served areas, as part of the so-called 'New Deal' mobile coverage plan agreed with the government in early 2018. The four MNOs have pledged to extend LTE to their entire networks, including rural sites listed in the government's white-spots programme, by 2022. FFTelecoms said that the number of cell sites still to be upgraded to LTE had reduced to 14,841 as of 31 March, down from 16,346 on 01 January.
