French telecom operators boost investment by 13% in 2016

The amount invested by telecom operators in the French market reached a new record of EUR 8.9 billion in 2016, when excluding the costs associated to the acquisition of mobile spectrum, according to Arcep's annual telecom report. This represents a year-on-year increase of 13.4 percent, with growth in the mobile sector (+13.6%) only slightly higher than in the fixed sector (+13.3%). For both, the rise was driven primarily by broadband networks (+25.1%), specifically the investments in 3G/4G (+17.7%) and fibre (33.1%).
