FTTH/B subscriber growth accelerates in Europe

Fibre broadband adoption in Europe accelerated in 2013, with the number of subscribers to FTTH/B growing by 29 percent. That's nearly double the 15 percent growth recorded in 2012 by the FTTH Council Europe. The figures were released at the industry group's conference in Stockholm. In total, 13 countries in the EU experienced growth greater than 30 percent in FTTH/B subscribers in the past year, including Spain (64%), the Netherlands (43%), France and Portugal (each 41%). Switzerland had the strongest growth across Europe, with a 235 percent increase in subscribers to almost 74,000. In
