Gartner lowers 2019 shipment guidance for global devices, smartphones

Gartner has lowered its forecast for global device shipments this year. The researcher now sees a year-on-year slide of 3.7 percent for the shipment of PCs, tablets and mobile phones, compared to the 2.5 decline it guid ed for earlier this summer. Total device shipments, which amounted to 2.222 billion units in 2018, will now slip to 2.139 billion this year, 2.155 in 2020 and 2.156 billion in 2021.
