The new Breakthrough Energy Ventures, spearheaded by Bill Gates and led by the tech sector, will put more than USD 1 billion into clean energy companies, Recode reported, adding the fund has received backing from 20 investors, including Gates, Alibaba chairman Jack Ma, Khosla Ventures' Vinod Khosla, and SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner.
