Gauteng education dept rolls out ICT in schools

Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has officially begun rolling out its technology-enabled teaching and education programme to Grade 12 pupils in the province. The programme, commonly known as 'The paperless classroom', entails the use of interactive boards and mobile devices such as tablets and laptops with complete internet connectivity for education. The GDE has selected 375 high schools with Grade 12 classes, mainly in township and rural areas, to participate in the programme.
