GBI announces Gulf-to-Europe network expansion

Monday 4 March 2013 | 12:51 CET | News
Submarine cable operator Gulf Bridge International (GBI) has announced a network expansion that includes the first ever terrestrial fibre optic link connecting all the countries of the Gulf region to Europe. The North Route consists of robust diverse routes through Iraq and Turkey, and will significantly reduce latency time for connectivity from the Gulf and Asia to Europe. It strengthens GBI's existing Europe routing through the subsea network, further reinforcing the network against cable cuts and other common industry hazards, said a senior official.
