German broadcast ad market to grow 3-4% this year

The broadcast advertising market in Germany is expected to grow by 3.3-4.1 percent this year to around EUR 6 billion, slightly slower than the 4.4 percent achieved in 2016, according to a forecast from the commercial broadcasters' association VPRT. At the same time, the group expects the broadcast share of the total ad market to exceed 38 percent for the first time, versus 37.4 percent last year. TV accounts for the bulk of broadcast advertising, at an estimated EUR 4.7 billion in 2017, up 2.0-2.5 percent. TV is expected to exceed 30 percent of the market this year for the first time.
