German businesses see rigid data protection rules holding back innovation

Nearly half (46%) of German executives think the country's rigid data protection rules put Germany at a competitive disadvantage in the digital economy, according to a representative survey by YouGov for the industry group Eco. Over half (57%) of those surveyed said the existing data protection rules in Germany make innovative digital business models difficult to employ.
