German consumer electronics market grows 12.4% to EUR 12.3 billion in 2018

Sales of private consumer electronics in Germany reached EUR 12.3 billion in 2018, up 12.4 percent from around EUR 11.0 billion in 2017, according to GFU figures. In particular, revenues for core wearables reached EUR 681 million in 2018, up 21.2 percent from 2017; for smartphones EUR 11 billion, up 12.5 percent; and for telephones up 0.3 percent to EUR 291 million. Sales of mobile phones fell 7.9 percent to EUR 82 million in 2018 from EUR 89 million in 2017, according to GFU.
