German court dismisses e-mail spying complaint

The German Supreme Adminstrative Court has thrown out a complaint against the Federal Intelligence Services (BND) for intercepting telecommunications, onlinekosten.de reported. Berlin lawyer Niko Harting brought the case, arguing that it it is excessive and unlawful for the BND to monitor international e-mail traffic. However, judges in Leipzig said the case was inadmissable on formal grounds, as Harting could not prove that he himself was a direct subject of the surveillance.
