German court sentences card sharer for computer fraud

Friday 21 October 2016 | 10:03 CET | News
German higher state court in Celle has sentenced a card sharing server operator for computer fraud, following the earlier verdict of the state court in Verden. The complainant had a subscription to Sky Deutschland's pay-tv services and offered other consumers decrypted access to Sky content for a fee via so-called card sharing server since the spring of 2009. This violates the conditions of his contract with Sky Deutschland that specifically limits the use of the decryption signal for personal use.
